Only a few kilometres from the southeast coast of Majorca one can find the small town of Santanyi. Next to agricultural business, which has specialized on the growing of almond trees, the exploitation of limestone is the most important branch of industry in Santanyi.

The town itself developed rapidly over the last 5 years. Various shops invite to come in and leave a bit of “pocket money”, whilst various cafés and Restaurants of all types fulfil anyone’s culinary desires. The market (on Wednesday and Saturday) enjoys great popularity; here you may find any type of fruit and vegetables, as well as shoes, soap, clothes and a lot more. In the evening the bar Sa Cova to live concerts.

Though Cala Santanyi doesn’t seem to be so run over and built like similar bays of Mallorca, yet in the high season the bay also enjoys great popularity. In the direct neighbourhood of Cala Santanyi is the beautiful bay of Cala Llombards, which is particularly popular for guests from Cala Figuera. So far there is no real tourist infrastructure, so that these bays appear to be very natural and mostly attract day guests and very individual tourists.
Five kilometres to the east of Santanyi is the Parc Natural de Mondrago, a natural park of about 785 hectares, spread between Porto Petro and Cala Figuera. It was established by government in 1992. The nature reserve is the native home of seldom Orchids, over 70 different types of birds and stocks of endangered species of native turtles. Two beautiful beaches built the very heart of the park, Sa Font de n’Alis and S’Amarador.
